Abiodun is the Founder of BlackBirch Capital and thus responsible for the strategic direction of the firm, as well as overseeing all securities trading business. Abiodun has over 20 years experience in Investment banking and has executed transactions in excess of USD 10 billon across multiple sectors i.e. oil & gas, financial services, consumer, industrials etc. in his investment banking career to date.
Prior to founding BlackBirch Capital, He was responsible for setting up the investment banking business of Coronation Merchant Bank as he was the pioneer Division Head of the Investment Banking Division at Coronation. Abiodun led the business and executed multiple landmark transactions which culminated to Coronation Merchant Bank being awarded as the Best Investment Bank in Nigeria by World Finance, Business Day and Global Banking & Finance Awards. He was on the Board of the Bank's three subsidiaries; Coronation Securities Limited, Coronation Asset Management Limited & Coronation Trustees Limited.
Abiodun was also the former Director of Investment Banking at Renaissance Capital, a leading emerging market focused investment banking firm, covering Renaissance Capital’s Sub-Saharan African Investment Banking business. Before joining Renaissance Capital, he was an Investment Adviser at Africa Finance Corporation. He also grew from being an Analyst to Deputy Head of Investment Banking at Vetiva Capital Management. He started his career as an Analyst in the Information Risk Management Unit of KPMG Professional Services. Abiodun holds a First-Class degree in Accounting from the University of Lagos and was the best graduating student at the Faculty of Business Administration. He has an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, USA. He is Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Charter holder, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA), and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (FCTI).
